Service to society takes many forms

Switzerland not only has four national languages, but also a long tradition of compulsory military service. Civilian alternatives are a relatively recent introduction. The Syngenta Foundation in Basel is one of many organizations offering service opportunities. But why would young men (yes, call-up is only for them so far) choose us instead of the army? What do they do when they get here? And how do they find it?
