The Syngenta Foundation is delighted to announce that Shenggen Fan is joining its Board.

Shenggen has recently returned to his home country and is now a Chair Professor at China Agricultural University in Beijing. He had previously worked for 11 years as Director-General of the International Food Policy Research Institute in Washington, D.C., which he joined in 1995.

“We are extremely fortunate to be able to call on Shenggen Fan’s enormous expertise and broad international insights”, says our Foundation’s Director Simon Winter. “At IFPRI, in particular, he has worked across a wide range of food policy topics. Much of his research has focused on the role of public and private investments in agriculture and infrastructure in combatting poverty and hunger.”

Two long-standing members will be retiring from the Board this year: Maggie Catley-Carlson and Radha Singh. “We owe them both a huge debt of gratitude”, comments Simon.
